The IoT is connecting billions of devices, generating and transmitting data for processing. Edge computing, which involves processing data closer to the source, reducing latency and bandwidth usage, enabling faster data processing and analysis. It can also improve security and privacy by processing sensitive data locally rather than transmitting it to a centralized location for processing.

Advanced Materials

Advances in materials science, including nanotechnology, biomaterials, and 3D printing, are leading to the development of novel materials with enhanced properties. With the challenge of the green transition, advanced materials also need to become sustainable. These materials have applications in areas such as aerospace, electronics, and healthcare.

New Space

Advancements in space exploration and aerospace tech, spanning satellite innovation, reusable rockets, and space tourism, are reshaping communication, transportation, and logistics industries. The European Commission’s recognition of blockchain in its Horizon 2020 research strategy underscores its importance in the Next Generation Internet, urging Europe to lead the forthcoming data business disruption with a focus on data protection and sovereignty, aligning with its core values and strategic objectives.
