INPHO 2022 - WHAT'S NEXT TO INVEST IN QUANTUM TECHNOLOGIES?

Digital Session - May 2nd 2022 . 5.30 pm CEST

What actual economic value lies behind quantum technologies?

Quantum technologies market including computing, cryptography and sensing is expected to grow to US$2.9 billion in 2030 representing an annual growth rate of 18% (2020-2025) and 30% (2025-2030) according to Yole Développement.

Start-ups are beginning to raise huge amounts of capital and to reach high valuations. One might wonder if we are at risk of a technology-driven speculative bubble or if quantum technologies are opening a new field of business opportunities.

This session will especially challenge:

  • The key drivers expected to accelerate the adoption of quantum technologies and the main limitations;
  • What are the applications fields expected to be the first impacted by the quantum revolution;
  • Quantum technologies unique competitive advantages to hit the market while other technologies are also evolving;
  • What differentiation would be expected for companies to lead this emerging market;
  • What are motivations and expectations of private investors active in quantum technologies;
  • What’s next to invest in quantum technologies….

What is Quantum 2.0?

Quantum Physics is surrounding us in many applications from computers, Solar panels, to optical network, medical imaging and microscopy.The understanding of the physics of subatomic particles as well as the mastery of the technologies implementing these physical effects in components and systems have lead to a broad range of innovations since the 1960’s. But there is more, and the story is not over. The technologies that permit the manipulation and read out of individual particles at quantum level are now initiating a new Quantum revolution. It will give birth to computers capable to solve the world hardest problems, sensors capable to observe the ocean current from space and unhackable cryptographic keys to mention only a few.  We have entered into the Quantum 2.0 era.
