g2-Zero is developing quantum light emitting devices and other photonic components based on semiconductors for applications in quantum communications, computing and sensing.
Our goal is to make these devices accessible and cost-effective through an innovative approach to industrialisation which will accelerate the adoption of quantum technologies across different industries.
The lack of commercially available high-brightness and high-purity quantum light sources represents a significant barrier in the commercial-scale deployments of quantum communication networks that are secure against quantum computers and which need high capacity, reliability and scalability.
g2-Zero will sell a compact rack solution with up to 16 high-performance, Plug & Play quantum light sources, fibre-coupled and ready to connect to quantum communication equipment for 24/7, unattended operation.
The customer will choose how many devices they need initially and will add new channels via remote activation as demand increases thereby reducing initial installation costs.
The design and functionality of g2-Zero’s Plug&Play device were patented by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) with Benito Alén, co-founder of g2-Zero as principal inventor (EP3361516B1, US20200279972), In 2021, g2-Zero acquired a perpetual and exclusive license
g2-Zero will begin by targeting the R&D market, whose global investment level is currently $55 bn and later the industrial quantum communications market which is estimated to be worth between $11-15bn by 2035 and $24-36bn by 2040.
We offer a cost-effective, easy-to-use solution for quantum research as well as for scaling quantum communication networks to commercial deployment. This will initially be of interest to quantum key distribution vendors and later to telco companies who will deploy quantum networks at a large-scale.
g2-Zero’s will make revenue from the direct sales of its 2 product lines. We will release our MVP in Q1 2027 for the R&D market and later release our upgradeable and scaleable flagship product for quantum communications in Q4 2029.
Our current goal is to raise €6 M in seed funding resulting in our first sales of our MVP in Q1 of 2027 and sustaining us until 2029 for the release of our flagship QKD product.
