Deploying Startup Innovation with Port of Bordeaux and Port of San Diego
For this digital session, Géraldine Andrieux, President of Blumorpho, together with Jean-Frédéric Laurent, CEO of the Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux, and for Port of San Diego, Jason Giffen, Vice President of Planning & Environment, as well as Paula Sylvia, Program Director – Aquaculture & Blue Technology, will showcase how their model of incubating innovative solutions within the port can be a game changer for innovative companies. Best practices, success stories, and opportunities for collaboration will be discussed to support innovative companies from seed towards growth stage. The impact of urban port ecosystem to build strategic and financial collaborations will be explained. Jean-Frédéric Laurent is the CEO of the Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux, a leading port actively committed to innovation and sustainable transformation. Under his leadership, the port has been at the forefront of integrating smart infrastructure, data-driven solutions, and startup collaborations to enhance efficiency and resilience. Jason Giffen is the Vice President of Planning & Environment at the Port of San Diego, where he has been a driving force behind the port’s environmental and innovation strategies since 2013. With over two decades of experience in coastal and marine planning across California, he brings deep expertise in integrating sustainability into port development. Paula Sylvia is the Director of Aquaculture and Blue Technology at the Port of San Diego, where she has led the development of the Blue Economy Incubator since its inception in 2016. With over 15 years of experience in marine science and sustainable aquaculture, she has been instrumental in advancing innovative pilot projects that integrate environmental stewardship with economic development.
